Auriga Group responds to Emergency Call, delivers Essential Supplies to East Kimberly region
The Auriga Group has responded to an emergency call from Western Australia’s Department of Fire and Emergency Services by delivering essential supplies to the flood-stricken town of Wyndham. The East Kimberley region has been cut off by flooding as the main land routes into the region, the Great Northern Highway at Fitzroy Crossing and Victoria Highway, are closed due to extensive flooding.
In response, Auriga Marine was contacted by the Western Australian Department of Fire and Emergency Services on Tuesday morning to request one of their landing craft take in essential supplies to the region by sea. With no time to lose, the next afternoon the Auriga Marine Landing Craft, Trader Express, departed Darwin for Wyndham with essential supplies such as food, water and medical supplies.
“We understand how difficult this situation is for those affected in the East Kimberly and we are doing all we can to help,” said Trent Lonsdale, CEO of Auriga Group. “This is what we do – we respond quickly and efficiently in situations like this.”
The Trader Express arrived in Wyndham early Friday morning, where it unloaded its cargo before returning back to Darwin for another load over the weekend. This was a complex logistical effort that required quick thinking and decisive action from everyone involved.
“We were so happy that we could help out in this emergency situation,” said Captain Nicholas March, who was Master for the Trader Express on its mission. “It was an honour for us at Auriga Marine to be able to provide assistance during this difficult time.”
The people of East Kimberly are now receiving much-needed supplies thanks to the efforts of all involved and their commitment towards helping those affected by natural disasters.
